Benjamin A Gilman Scholarships - U.S. citizen; undergraduate student in good standing; currently receiving a federal Pell Grant; no summer programs; for study in any country not currently under a Department of State Travel Warning. Award: up to $5000. Deadline: October 7, 2008. Details.
ASCE HOWARD PRESTON SCHOLARSHIP - two scholarships available; $1500 for a CE Junior, $500 for a CE Senior. Must have parents residing in or have graduated from high school located with in the following Columbia Section boundaries, in Washington (counties of Yakima, Klickitat, Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla and Columbia) or Oregon (counties of Morrow, Umatilla, Union, and Wallowa), or have lived in one of these counties for two years, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The Eugene Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association will provide two $1,000 scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year to students majoring in CEM. Scholarship criteria: academic record, personal attributes and construction-related goals. Applications are available from Jan Strombeck in 220 Owen Hall. Due date: May 1, 2008.
Wire Reinforcement Institute Education Foundation Scholarship - awards in amounts ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 to any deserving high school senior, high school graduate, current undergraduate or graduate level school student intending to or presently pursuing pursuing four-year undergraduate or graduate level degrees in structural and/or civil engineering at an accredited university. The American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) Chapter 54 is offering a $1,000 and a $750 scholarship for 2008-09. Scholarship criteria: CEM student who has achieved third-year academic standing; resident of Oregon or Washington; relative merits of the program in which the student is enrolled or relative merits of their major to construction and cost estimating; relative financial needs; involvement in construction or engineering organizations; academic standing; and value of construction cost estimating to their field of study. The Zonta Service Foundation of Corvallis Scholarship applications are now available for currently enrolled undergraduate students. Scholarship criteria: Current undergraduate at LBCC or OSU; have resumed studies after a minimum one-year break in their education; have demonstrated an interest in working to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health or professional status of women or have demonstrated a willingness to work in a job or profession involving the welfare of children; full-time student (9 CR or more) making satisfactory academic progress. Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund -
provides annual scholarships to applicants wishing to pursue educational excellence in construction and construction-related fields. Deadline to apply is March 1, 2008. Full details here.
2008 James D. Cooper student paper competition - is open to college and university engineering students in the United States and worldwide, divided into undergraduate and graduate competitions. The lead author of the winning paper in each category (undergraduate and graduate) will receive a $1000 IBC Fellowship, complimentary conference registration and hotel and travel allowances to attend the 25th International Bridge Conference, June 2-4 2008, in Pittsburgh PA. Both winning papers will be considered for inclusion in the published proceedings and for presentation at the conference. Papers should fall within one of the IBC Technical Session Topics listed at http://www.eswp.com/bridge/abstract.htm. Papers prepared for other purposes (thesis, projects, etc) are acceptable. Manuscripts are limited to ten (10) pages single spaced 12 point text (no exceptions). Papers must be authored only by students; papers co-authored by advisors are not eligible. Papers will be judged by an international committee of engineers and academics. Papers must be submitted no later than March 1, 2008. Entries must be submitted in Adobe PDF format to kharries@engr.pitt.edu and must be accompanied by the attached entry form.Winning entries will be notified by April 1, 2008. Invitations to present or submit for proceedings will also be made at this time.
Pacific Northwest Section of the American Water Works Association offers scholarships for students whose training will lead to a career in the public water industry. Over the years, 21 OSU students received scholarships from this program. This years seven awards range from $1,500 - $4,000. Applications available from Jan Strombeck (220 Owen Hall) and are due by February 29, 2008.
ASSOCIATION of STATE DAM SAFETY OFFICIALS SCHOLARSHIP - Students interested in hydraulics, hydrology and geotechnical engineering are eligible for scholarships up to $10,000 for the 2008/2009 academic year. Recipients must be US citizens and enrolled full-time as seniors during the 2008/2009 school year. Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 for the first three years of college. Deadline is March 29, 2008.
Morris K. Udall Undergraduate Scholarships - In 2008, the Foundation expects to award 80 scholarships and 50 honorable mentions on the basis of merit to sophomore and junior level college students. Scholarships are offered in any of three categories: to students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment;
to Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; to Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to Native health care. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. The Foundation also seeks future Native American and Alaska Native leaders in public and community health care, tribal government, and public policy affecting Native American communities, including land and resource management, economic development, and education. AACE International Competitive Scholarships -
CE and CEM freshmen, sophomores, and juniors and seniors (who have been accepted into an appropriate graduate program), may apply. A short essay is required. AACE International is dedicated to advancing the study of cost engineering, and cost management through the integrative process of total cost management. Application deadline is February 15, 2008. Awards are $2000 to $8000.
DEEP FOUNDATIONS INSTITUTE 2008 Student Paper Competition. Students studying in the fields of engineering, construction and geological sciences are encouraged to submit a paper for consideration. The author(s) of the winning paper will be invited to attend the DFI 2008 Conference in NYC to present the paper. Conference registration, two nights of lodging and a $750 stipend for travel expenses will be provided to the winner. Deadline to apply is February 4, 2008. Details.
OSU Libraries Undergraduate Student Research Awards - will recognize and reward OSU students who, through the comprehensive use of the OSU Libraries, demonstrated outstanding research, scholarship and originality in writing a paper of completing a project. There will be two awards given; $1000 to an upper division student and $1000 to a lower division student at Oregon State. To be eligible, students must have written their papers, or completed their research projects as part of their course work at OSU during the 2007 calendar year. OSU faculty are encouraged to nominate students whose papers or projects that reflect outstanding information literacy skills through the extensive and sophisticated use of the library services, resources and collections. Kimmel & Associates Scholarship for Students in Construction - (1) students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university who are studying civil engineering, architectural engineering, construction management, construction technology, engineering technology, building construction, building science or another course of studies related to and leading to employment in construction; (2) students who match the criteria of Rule 1 above but who are also currently employed with a construction company while they attend school; (3) students who are committed to pursuing a career in the construction industry. AGC SCHOLARSHIP – a renewable $2500 per year scholarship for all CEM and CE students interested in construction are eligible. Applications are due before November 1, 2007. Full details.

Scholarship & Creativity -
is a Research Office program that supports undergraduate research activities. "Research" at OSU is interpreted broadly to reflect what goes on not only in laboratories and field stations, but also in libraries, art studios, and music practice rooms. ASSOCIATION for the ADVANCEMENT of COST ENGINEERING - awards academic scholarships to full-time students pursuing a related degree in engineering, construction management, building construction, computer sciences, business, quantity surveying, information technology, etc. The cost engineering profession uses the process of total cost management to identify and define those areas of business in which the discipline of cost engineering and cost management principles may be applied to plan and control resources, assets, costs, profitability, and risk. The major elements of the cost engineering discipline include estimating, project/product controls, planning and scheduling, business sciences, and project/product management. Scholarships are available in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $4,000. Specific awards will be determined based on your overall scholarship and collegiate accomplishments.
